Exclamation What kinda problem is this...?

wondering, i got a centerforce dual friction clutch installed on my car, broke it in 800km's, has about 3000km's on it now.... and now is the only time i've been beating on the car, i was going to do doughnuts today in the rain, i dropped the clutch and it didnt feel like my back end was sliding around, mabe one wheel but the engine was revving as i feathered the gas, i have an 1989 RX7 ( turbo ) and was wondering if this would be caused by my LSD, i then revved it higher and dropped the clutch and my tires went up in smoke and i was sliding everywhere, what you think guys, could the difference in revvs matter?, first time was at about 4500rpm and second was about 5500-6000rpm....

i think since my car is a 1989 S5 turbo it has a viscous LSD, would it make sence to have to revv higher to break the wheels lose like that?...

hope you guys can help me!...

i had the wheels turned both times, though the second time they were turned right and slightly down hill, the time it didnt really work i was slightly up hill ( very mild moderation )

all help will be greatly appreciated!, please settle my thoughts!...

thanx!...

Viscous LSDs don't go bad. There is nothing to wear out.

Engagement is slightly slower using one, but not like he described, and either way, if the LSD was bad it would just act like an open differential.

And sliding all over (if you have broke the rear traction) is pretty common on all LSDs.

Sounds more like the clutch has been glazed, and or is slipping. And in the case of a new clutch, I would be also checking to see if there were any greasy fingerprints on the flywheel/friction plate or clutch plates.

I had a centerforce clutch a long time ago on my '79 that I put in and I probably got some greasy fingerprints on it. After a few months it started slipping and I dropped the tranny to look at it and the clutch disk was shredded. I went back to a stock clutch and pressure plate after that. You can stick your finger in that little hole in the transmission and feel around for shreddings to check. Good luck.

alot of people seem to be having trouble with these centerforce clutches. is it human error or are they defective?
