you cant replace teh FPD without changing the entire fuel rail on S5's. New spark plugs and an new O2 sensor should help as well, plugs run 5bucks or so (NGK's) and a sensor should be about 20ish

Yeah, thanks for that....i had put it down but mustve deleted it and hit send without looking... but dont forget a fuel filter and air filter as well, but the fuel is more important if its never been done.

"Good" tune-up? Not exactly cheap, but entirely worthwhile...

NGK spark plugs: BUR7EQ Leading, BUR9EQ Trailing

Fuel filter: RX7.com

Oil Filter: RX7.com sells Nippon (Mazda) 4-packs

Oil: Castrol GTX 20w50

Manual Tranny: Redline MT90 Synthetic Transmission Fluid - http://www.247-parts.com

Rear End: Redline 75w90 Differential Fluid - http://www.247-parts.com

Rear End Additive: Redline Differential Additive - http://www.247-parts.com

O2 Sensor: RX7.com

Replace all vacuum hoses with silicone, a kit can be bought from Hose Techniques.

Replace all fuel hoses with 5/16 Interal diameter fuel injection hose, can be bought at any auto parts store.

Replace air filter

Spark plug wires

Like I said...in no way cheap. But..this is a thorough tune-up, and is what every RX7 should have done when bought..

Also, it's always a good idea to refurbish all stock grounds, as eventually they will most likely fail on you :P

AdRock is Specifying Brands,Trueno..You do Not want to Go Cheap with your Car..do it Right and it will treat you Right.Using Cheap Oil will Kill the Engine. You can always Go to the "Stealership",but The brands Specified are Proven By Many an Experineced Rotary Owner. You can get Redline at an Auto Parts Store.you can Use a Bosch Universal O2 Sensor. The Air Filter Can be K&N..Spark Plugs,Go with the NGK Platinums..Wires-NGK..Change your Coolant and Thermostat and Cap too,to take care of the Cooling System(OEM thermostat and Cap..50/50 dex-cool and a Bottle of Water-wetter)..I'm sure there will be More on "your tune-up"..But alot of it has been Mentioned already. As Far as the Pulsation Damper..it's up to you.Personally I wouldn't go Fixin what isn't Broke,But the Part is a Volitile one.If Changing it out would put you More at Ease.then Go for it.after all it's your Dime.

hmm cheap? Get a bottle of fuel injecter cleaner and add it to a full tank of gas. Get a pack of STP fuel treatment too from walmart if you got an extra 3 dollars. Not exactly parts, but stuff that would help, for cheap...

NO! NO DEXCOOL.

That stuff eats up the seals in our engines. GREEN coolant, not red.

You should definetely do the FPD!!!!! It's only about 1/3 more expensive to replace the entire fuel rail and FPD on an S5 than it is to just replace the FPD on an S4. While you're at it replace all the injector O-rings and seals.

Change ALL the fluids (coolant, oil, tranny, diff, brakes, clutch).

Another thing to consider besides what's been mentionned is the in tank fuel filter, it's the cause of a potential problem where the car looses most of its power when cornering hard in left handers.

Basically check over everything and if it's worn or looks suspicious, then replace it.

Just order everything I listed..it is the best, and the only stuff I think should ever be used. Accept no imitations..

Use 20w50 in Cali. It is a heavier weight then 10w30, but seeing as you have no harsh cold, it will be perfect.

10w30 for winter/cold
20w50 for summer/warm
in cali i see no reason to use 10w30 though your winters are pretty warm.

Royal Purple is still pretty good, I don't know exactly it compares to Redline, but it's still got a pretty good reputation, just not quite as good as Redline. In all honesty though, unless you're having problems with the car, ordinary fluids should be just fine, especially if you're not taking the car to the track or anything like that.

i've never heard of this. the only instances i've seen failed seals are from age/heat (cracks) and from the iron lip eroding around them, allowing them to slip out.

The idea with using green coolant is just the margine of error. A super good, clean coolant flush will still leave behind slight residue or even a good amount of green, or whatever coolant has always been used in that engine.

Mixing coolant does NOT work. Mixing green with orange or red will result in SLUDGE. As some of you may not know...sludge does not promote "flow."

You should get a manual. Haynes is good. You can also download the Factory Service Manual (FSM) online. I beleive there's a link in one of the stickies (FAQ?) at the top of the 2nd gen section.
