What is this hose for? (pic)

It's the black hose on the left. Sorry for the poor shot, it's the only pic i could find of the hose.

My best guess would be its something related to the A/C system since I haven't seen it on any cars that don't have a/c...maybe it's a condensation drain or something

Maybe this pic is better...

It just comes from the firewall and then just points down, which makes me think its a drain of some sort. I guess I'm wondering if I can remove it or not.

if its an ac drain i wouldn't remove it you don't want a trail of rust runing down your firewall

Ok well maybe not remove it but definately re-route it cause it is going to be dangerously close to my exhaust.

ya, it comes from your a/c evaporator so any condensation or leaks go outside rather than under your dash

That's exactly what it is and it would be a good idea to see if its clogged up with debris which will happen over time. If so,then clear it out.

Yeah. I have to clean out the tubing usually once a year. I live in MA around a lot of oaks. What I usually do is disconnect the tube under the dash and run a coathanger up to clear the muck. I catch the water downflow in a plastic bag and reconnect. The plumbing down (in my area) doesn't usually clog.
