what the heck is this

What is this and do I need it to be hooked up. Its just sort of dangling here on my 91 vert. Looks like it may have led into the exhaust and or the cat at one point. Should I leave it dangle or hook it back up..... or just cut it and block it. Ill post the pic to my pics.... not letting me upload to the post via my phone.

If you were to stand in front of the car it would be located on the left side...passenger side and if you look at the pic it runs out that side of the motor and then drops down as though it used to fit up to the cat. So it would be left side near the fire Wall dropping down to the bottom of the car and starting somewhere near the mid height left side of the engine. It s the thing in the pic that has the circular disco shaped thing mounted on it.... and goes from rubber hose into a metal pipe as it nears the ground.

That is the tube through which air is pumped into the cat converter.

So I'm guessing it would be better for me to just cut it off and block it off. Or run it back into the pipe at the resonator since I'm now missing a cat. Or just blow the car sky high.....lol. I'm no mechanic..... suggestions please.

I believe that it goes into the back of the lower intake manifold if memory serves. You can go ahead and block it off and eliminate it. Obviously, if it's not currently hooked up and the car is running ok, it's not a big issue to eliminate it. Being a series 5 based on the pics, the aux ports are activated by intake vacuum, not exhaust pressure, so you're in the clear in that department, too.

you can get a block off plate from either Racing Beat or Mazdatrix. Two little 10mm bolts and your good.

Or, you could just leave it alone as is.
