when i had my engine put in the guy who put it in also ran straight fuel lines for me as in one line out one line in, no fpd at all. now he said that because of that my fuel pressure is too low and i need to upgrade the pump.
lets not question that, that was just back story.
anyway, im looking at what may be a walbro pump that just fell into my lap and im thinking of installing it tommorrow. think it'll be overkill? and if your pressure is too low what will you experience? good or bad gas mialage? low power is assume, anything else though?

You don't need a Walbro with an N/A (or the T2 pump that you have on there...). I would suggest verifying that you have low fuel pressure then come back.

no fule pressure regulator as in, the fuel pump pump fuel to engine directly and then go directly to fuel tank?

I know you didnt want to talk about this but why would eliminating the pd lower the fuel pressure?

BTW DREYKO i love your avatar thats awesome!

The guy who put it in is nuts. you dont need to get a higher output fuel pump, you need to put that fuel pressure regulator back in. its an efi system, your computers fuel maps are based on a certain fuel pressure. GET THAT FPR BACK IN!

He took out the FPD, not the FPR. Your mechanic's on crack. Check pressure at the pump and then every point on the way. You want 36 psi.

removing FPD does not affect fuel pressure and wouldnt lower the fuel pressure. either dreyko switched the names around or the mechanic really did remove the fuel pressure regulator.

You should be questioning that, because it's a load of BS. The pulsation damper does not effect fuel pressure, so if the pressure is actually low then you need to find the cause. Diagnose, then repair. Not the other way around.

I'm not even considering the possibility that the fuel pressure regulator has been removed, because the engine simply wouldn't run without it.

Crazy overkill. You'll run significantly richer all the time, use more gas and have less power. Not recommended...

Lean mixtures, low power, hesitation under load, poor idle and generally crappy running.
