What happens if I use 92+ thrust plate/needle plate/etc on 91 ?
any ill effects other than double the cost?
I will be using rx8 eshaft, stationary gear, S5 rotors, S5 front and rear counter weight if that matters.
Thx

the S6 thrust bearing is almost twice the surface and has less tendency to fail as the S4/5 thrust bearings do from riding the clutch. you do need at least the S6 complete front stack which includes both torrington bearings, rear thrust washer, S6 thrust plate, shim collar and S6 front counterwieght with thrust bearing shim.
iirc only the S5 can be upgraded for those who wanted to know, due to the front counterweight thrust shim diameter issue.

unfortunately it won't, i just verified it by pulling an S6 torrington and it is far too big for the FC front counterweight, the S5 front weight can be swapped with an S6 though since they are the same weight rotating assembly. S4 are SOL for this upgrade.

Hmm, let me confirm my findings, I searched

so in order for this to "work", I will need everything in Red Circled for S6. then the rest of the stuff can stay S5 ?
Meaning following S6 item :
11-5111 - S6 Front Counterweight
11-5071 - S6 Thrust washer for counterweight
11-5051 - S6 Needle bearing/torrington roller bearing/
11-5011 - S6 Thrust plate
11-5021 - S6 Spacer
11-5041 - S6 Plate
11-5051 - S6 Needle bearing/torrington roller bearing
That's it and everything else can stay the way it is(meaning S5's stuff) right ?
Thx
that is right, the 11-5021 spacer though will come in various thicknesses to adjust the thrust play of the engine. you can order a set of them and return the unused ones after you get the correct thrust play set.

nope, the front torrington will be eaten to **** if you even attempted it as half of the rollers will ride over the empty space at the outer edge of the S5 thrust bearing collar. the S5 front counterweight and shim are just too small to make it work, even with machine work there simply isn't any material there to work with.
an S6 front counterweight shouldn't be difficult to find used.
