Bickering over which style to make. N/A? TII? Reverse Scoop? Border? It all ends the same. Eather Boostmotorsports or Mazdaspeed7 (Sorry if I say the wrong name.. but it's close, I'm sure ) said they're going to TRY and make a Border hood. But, odds are, it'll be a long time coming.

amemiya: how do you know? have you ever done any testing? Didn't think so.
I, however, have been party to testing of a TII hood on an N/A (roughly equivalent to a frount-mount TII). Fact is, the stock hood scoop is NOT SCOTTISH (and therefore, CRAP).
Highway testing in a '90 GTU equipped with a TII hood found that constant speed under 80 MPH caused REVERSION through the hood scoop. That means air was flowing OUT of the hood scoop.
It wasn't until about 110 that air started to flow INTO the hoodscoop, and even then, air only flowed down the REAR of the hoodscoop (not the collector, but the "outlet"), indicating that there was no or negligable airflow to the front of the scoop. And this was at 110+. How often do you drive 110?
Fact is, the stock hoodscoop is worthless. Any hood scoop is worthless in these cars, as flow through the stock indicates - the direction of airflow reverses, and thus no "correct" hoodscoop can be designed, unless you've got the Ph4+ m4d sk1llZ to design a scoop which faces either the front or rear depending on speed.
So - here's where we're at. A carbon fiber hood will only weigh about 2 lbs lighter than its stock aluminum counterpart, and gians will only be realized if it's a flat, N/A-style hood, which is plentiful. Will I be spending my $600 for a hood that, as far as I can tell, only saves me 2 lbs for an extra ~$300, min? Hell NO. Will you? Feel free, but remember that $150/lb is pretty steep...

way from looking trick. The keyword is flow no matter wich way it's flowing it moving air and cools down the engine bay. Now I am just working on fenders that flare out a bit for more flow.

knowledge junkie
Someone was suppose to be sending pictures after their local CF shop made one. What happened to that?
Also same on the fiberglass hood.
We eventually agreed - JUST GET ONE MADE - WE DON'T CARE.

Yo,
What needs to happen is someone that lives near:
FiberImages
37925 E. 6th St.
Palmdale, CA 93550
Needs to go down there and drop off a NA hood so a mold can be made. FiberImages makes killer CF stuff, and we need someone to step up that lives locally to them and at least stop by the shop and chat with them.
Everything else is all mental masturbation about which style hood, what kind of scoop, blah blah blah. That's why I posted the "Would you buy a NA CF Hood?" thread, so see if there is a demand for it.
Is there? I think there is. I've emailed FiberImages a couple times, but no response. One of the Forum members needs to stop by and see what the deal is.
