What happened to my 5th and 6th ports? :(
I've been having a problem with my '85 SE revving, and a lot of people have mentioned the 5th and 6th ports. Although I still don't believe that them not opening would completely keep the car from revving, I found today that mine are stuck closed.
Here's the deal though. I just put this engine in. I had it all apart, and when I put it back together, I put Pineapple Racing sleeves in it. Everything was fine. They moved freely even after the engine was put back together, no problems at all. Me and rxmfn7 were trying to solve the rev problem again today, and he reached down and tried to move one of the actuators, and it was stuck. I tried the other one, and it was the same way. So we took the actuators off, and the sleeves are stuck extremely tight. I don't understand what happened to them. They were fine when I put the engine in the car and I've put less than 20 miles on the car since. Now they're frozen shut. I started to rip the manifolds off again, so I can take it all back apart again.
Why would this happen. Everything was good opon assembly, and even after the engine was in the car I moved the actuators freely by hand.
BTW, I'm posting here because I feel I'll get a better response, since you all have 13B's, and not many in the 1st gen forum do.
Please help.

Im sure that it had nothing to do with the sleeves having pineapple inserts, I used these sleeves in my own FC for almost a year, when I gave them to him because my car is currently apart, and we were just putting his back together. I will be ordering another set for myself soon. What I do find strange is why after only about a week or so of running, why the sleeves are stuck so tightly that we cannot even turn them with pliers. We were in the process of removing the manifolds to get the sleeves out and see what the problem was, but it started raining and we couldnt move on. Another question, would stuck auxillary ports cause the engine to not want to rev all the way to redline?

I found that the sleeves accumulate some oil from the oil injectors and will continue to rotate freely, but the actuator rods can get gummed up.
The good news is the rods can be pulled, cleaned & greased without removing the LIM.
