What the H3LL is this.....and a pic of t2

I came across this overflow looking bottle today while replacing the vac lines on the turbo. This is my first RX, so I am learning the ins and outs of them. It looks like it has not had anything in it for quite some time.

Oh, and here is a pic of my T2.

That sir, is a sub-zero starting system fluid reservoir.

Many have recommended to take it off and toss it, as it does not function.

btw, nice rx-7

Thanks for the info guys. I won't be removing it, as I want to keep the car as close to stock as possible. I will make a few mods, but I don't want to molest this car too much. My plan is to put "Corvette Stingray" style fenders on, rebuild the 13B, tranny, and rearend and upgrade to poly suspension bushings.

I forgot the specifics, but Moderator Arron Cakeposted something about even if it was full it does nothing. A mazda engineering failor. it's supposed ot be like liquid that de-ices some part of the engine by spraying it. First I beleive the liquid didn't do what it was supposed to. 2nd the system never gets cold enough to activate. There's other stuff, but the point is it never worked, not even rolling off the showroom floor into the hands of it's first owner.

several questions, in the pics it looks like an N/A with turbo wheels and badging. there's no spoiler, the hood looks flat, the mirrors look N/A and you covered the VIN number so I can't tell if that's really a turbo or a turbo clone. Just tryin to look out for you too man.

EDIT: and the TII wheels are off of an 88 not an 87 as this is suggested. The 87 wheels aren't polished. Anybody else think this could be a clone?

The wheels aren't polished, there is a scoop, and I don't know why it doesn't have a spoiler. it looks like it never had one. The Turbo badges are original, but some previous owner took a black marker to the II.

I know that I am about the 8th owner and I know 4 of the previous. The person that gave me the car was the 2nd, 5th and 7th owner, and the first was some old guy that never really drove the car. He would putt around like miss daisy.

Oh, and I covered the VIN for a very good reason. This is the internet, and I don't need my VIN floating around.

Edit: the Corvette Style fenders have a inverted scoop right behind the wheel wells, so air can flow out from behind the wheel better. I call them Stingray fenders because they are one of the few vehicles that came stock with them.

Wasn't there a tech advisory direct from Mazda that said it could/should be removed? Remove it, as many have stated, it doesn't work, never did, never will and Mazda has confirmed this. All it does is clutter things up.

Don't feel bad about reducing engine bay clutter in the attempt to "keep things stock". A 'stock' engine bay to me is one that's been stripped of everything but the essentials.

Maybe he just wasnt in a place cold enough.
I would not call it a Mazda Engineering Failure....
I am willing to bet it worked when it was new, and would probably work even today.

Do you even understand the system?

well you didn't have to cover the whole number, you could've shown the JM1FC33210H part and left the specific car unique I.D. to yourself. all turbo coupes have that begening number.

And he doesn't mean Z3 fenders, those have vents up high, he means like the Vette Stingray or FD style reverse scoop.

Guys the cold start assist as they call it is a funtional part of rotary engines. Its a antifreez type fluid that is injected into the rotor chambers to aid in starting up in cold weather. Our engines need that type of assist for cold mornings and emissions reasons. But yeah its totally fine if its tossed though it will still run fine

wait, if i read this right your contridicting yourself. I'm not being a dick but you just said that the car NEEDS it, then the next sentence says its ok to take it off.so which is it.

ps- do all fcs have this system cuz after reading this i went to to go take mine off only to find its not there. the last owner prolly took it off cuz hes a big rotorhead but just curious

No I don't mean Z3 fenders, I ain't no poser tuner. I want functionality, hence the Stingray fenders. and Thanks to '87 trubo FC for helping me get my point across. If he and I still haven't explained well enough search the web for pics of a early '70s Corvette Stingray and you will see what I mean. These fenders look just like FC fenders, but they have an inverted scoop to draw air out of the wheel well.

In regards to my rims, If i had a completely correct set I would fix them, but because I have three for one side and one for the other I have no choice. I am currently looking for a passenger side rim of this design to alleviate this problem.

RR87

Edit: I know that this car is a TII, and if you chose not to believe me then I am sorry. The only thing that I am missing from the average T2 package is the spoiler, and this car has never had one on it. The wheels are year correct, the mirrors are also. Not trying to start crap, but just because this is my first RX doesn't mean that I haven't any knowledge of them.

You mean these? I can swear to you they are NOT consider "Stingray" fenders in ANYWAY!

Edit: Oh and, the actual Corvette Stingray's would look totally out of place on an RX7 of any year, and look extremely ugly, even on the original car itself..

Hence, reasoning to delete them on later model Stingray's (You know, the ones that looked GOOD, like the 75+'s...) Notice on the 75+ they have ones like the picture I posted. One's that look...good...
