not to hijack your thread or anything but I'm trying to figure out what suspension setup I want to go with as well.

I come from a german FWD background and my last car (02 GTI) had Bilstein PSS9 (9pt adjustable) coilovers, so I'm looking for something that's very adjustable.

I do a lot of "canyon carving" style driving, lots of tight twisties, but I would also like to try my hand at drifting though, so I want something that can adjust for two very dissimilar driving styles.

Cheers,
Josh

"GAB" struts are KYB in japan. Tire rack has kyb AGX adjustable struts for a little over 400 shipped. I went with TEIN stech springs, 140 at rxecret, and the AGX's.

so if you had no money limitations and the same handling needs, would you still go with the KYB AGXs and Tein springs. I guess I'm asking the "if money was no object" question. I don't mind dropping a grand and change on my suspension if it's going to make my experience that much better. Not saying I've got a lot of money, but you know the old saying, if something's worth doing, then it's worth doing right.

Personally I like the Eibach Pro-kit springs with KYB AGX shocks. I like the Eibachs because they are progressive-rate springs, which makes them less harsh on small bumps, but nice and stiff when you want to carve up some road.

The KYB AGX shocks are my favorite because the rear shocks are externally adjustable, unlike the Tokico adjustable shocks. The Tokicos have to be adjusted from the top, requiring you to remove the rear speakers to make an adjustment. The KYBs have an 8-point dial on the side of the shock. The fronts on the KYBs are 4-way adjustable on the top.

Racing Beat springs mated with AGXs are nice as far as I'm concerend, some have said that it's too stiff however they're usually old folks .

Springs are around $240, the shocks aren't really cheap. I was able to get a set of four for $388 shipped though.

I got the KYB AGX's and the Racing Beat Spring/Swaybar package, I have no complaints. You might also want to look into the toe eliminator bushings that disable the DTSS "rear steer" system, they will make the car feel more "natural" in fast corners, and they're only $40 or so, but something of a a pain to install.

Your basic stiff setup would be - KYB adjustable struts with RS*R Race springs. If you want to spend another $100 or so, you can get even stiffer custom spring rate Ground Control coilovers.

Tokicos shocks. The blues are a little stiffer than stock. Yellows are the **** Eibach springs as similar to stock and only drop the car about 3/4 inch.
