What to Get for my new FC???

Hey guys just got ahold of a 1989 GTUs. Yep, I'm one of the lucky bastards that found one. So I'm very excited about this car and want to get it looking SHARP! I need all of your advise since I'm new to the RX7 community.

Heres the game plan:
Shaved door handles
Front bumper lip
TII hood
New Black Paint
Black rims with a chrome lip
Limo black tint
Black interior clean up
New black performance seats (old ones are BAD)
True duals
Aftermarket white gauges
Slide back sunroof

OK.... thats what I've bought so far. What should I get next? I'm looking for those little details, the RX7 community knows simple upgrades that make the difference. I want the car to to be very classy looking, nothing flashy but lots of small unique details. OK LET ME HEAR IT!!!!

Yes I know I know.... keep the GTUs stock, but I'm saving this car from the grave so it's comin back lookin more then stock.

Here is a MOCK-UP PICTURE of what I want it to look like:

Thats a nice looking 7 in that pic.

Well you've got some mods on there that for most 7 owners are quite "unique" to say the least. Shaved door handles comes to mind...and "slide back sunroof"....doesn't the car have one? or did the GTUs have no sunroof? If it has none now I would pretty much say you fudged for putting one in, the roof structure is quite a bit different on a sunroof equipped model.

I would maybe add to that list some suspension upgrades, these cars handle like go-karts with proper suspension setups.

Good luck on the project!

It's not running yet but the GTUs came with the TII suspension so I would imagine it will be fine. None of the GTUs models came with a sunroof either, to save weight, but was a dealer option.

Turbo vs Non is a whole other thread, right now I'm focusing in on the body and interior. Any suggestion on those would be great.

Hmmm, battery relocation would be good to

even stock TII suspension is crap compared to aftermarket....not to mention whether or not you even know how old the suspension in the car is. Meaning its probably due for service anyways.

dont put a sunroof on there. that's what makes the GTUs unique, but it is your car so your choice. That'd jus be my choice.

Hmmmmm how much is a nice setup going to cost??? 1000ish ?? Kinda pushin my budget right now.

As for the sun roof..... I might change my mind, but if I through a turbo in it then screw it, it's not really a GTUs any more. We'll see...

Yeah or a bit more. There's no sense in getting into it at this point then, but whe you have the bread its one of the most valued upgrades you'll have on the car. Trust me.

If the car didn't come with one, you'll go through a GIANT headache putting one in, if 1000 for suspension is too rich for your blood then this is something you probably won't want to get into, but the agian - you don't have to take my advice

Don't get me wrong, this isn't my first project, I know it gets pricey... just workin with the money I got now LOL

Future upgrades will include suspension, new engine, but right now I'm spending the first round of money in making it look good and run reliable.

Keep the advise comin!!!

What tdo you guys think of bezeled gauge peice:
ebay crap
Any one have pics of them installed..... I'm thinkin that it would look bad.

I want to have some small crome accents to match the rims..... anything in the interior I can make shiny with out looking tacky???

Don't even bother with an engine swap until your n/a one goes out. Get a K&N for your box, e-fan and catback exhaust

I see you mentioned RELIABILITY:

Castrol GTX 20w50 motor oil
Redline rear differential oil w/ stabilizer
Redline Transmission oil
All new vacuum hoses (silicone)
New coolant hoses, radiator and filler neck caps
Mazda oil filter w/ change
New fuel filter + lines
REPLACE PULSATION DAMPNER (search on this, BIG problem)
Service fuel injectors

I probably forgot a few things, but yeah, that will do.

it is an old 80s sports car and a rare one at that. Why are you trying to spazz it out?

I assume you've already done ALL the important things to keep your car on the road.....and since you are done with maintenance, power and suspension you're finishing it up with aesthetics. RIGHT???RIGHT????

It looks like your list is fine except for the sunroof........you don't really need a TII hood unless you're a poser ( which is fine.....some ppl like attention)......sill plates are retarded on a street car.......and remember you might lose the floor when your car reaches dangerous manifold pressure. On a serious note....your list is fine....I don't see anything TOO retarded but i really hope you have done all the maintenance, suspension and power adders.
