Yeah thats what I need to know what do I need? Is a crappy pawnshop laptop sufficient for tuning? Does it use the stock coils and igniters? Aside from the harness what additional sensors/wiring do I need? With the base maps is tuning a hybrid turboed with nitrous13bt hard? I intend to do a full to4 eventually and figure now is the best time to do this mod as I was gonna buy a boost controller soon, plus I cant seem to get my tps set right, and I cant get rid of hesitation and rough revving issues. Am I in over my head with this mod? Please some guidance from a person who knows!!!!!!!

you only need a laptop that can run DOS, so go for something slow (maybe a 266mhz)

slow works. probbaly run it off a 486... you'd probably want to add an aftermarket fuel pressure reg. and good time for bigger injectors.

why here? You know there is a ECU Forum with its own Haltech Forum. I suggest you scoot your butt over there unless you already have
A whole lot more people w/ plenty of haltech experience.
There is also a Yahoo Haltech Support group

Most Windows based tuning software will require a min of a Pentium 75. Thats a Slow Computer as far as todays standards. I have a 333 AMD K62 with 160 megs of ram that would be everything you need and more. My laptop computer is worth about 500 bucks. Its a compaq and is about 3 years old. Anything older wouldnt be worth buying. Many Stand alone ECU's come with some or all of the upgraded senso. Seeing you run MAF on the 2nd gen I believe you will be converting it to Speed density. I dont know whats all entailed in doin that as the 3rd gen is already set up this way with Map sensors stock. Maybe you will have to Tap the Manifold for the sensor. Maybe ask RETED about that one. He has some extensive knowledge of most RX-7 applications when it comes to Haltechs.

If you're talking about the MAP sensor install on a 13BT, it's as simple as hooking up a vacuum hose to a fitting AFTER the throttle plates to the MAP sensor.&nbsp This is one of the easier parts of installing the Haltech sensors on the engine.&nbsp The two temp sensors need to be drilled and tapped into the engine block.&nbsp The TPS (IMO, on a Zenki car only) is a royal-pain-in-the-***, as it requires some custom adapter to be mounted SECURELY onto the throttle body; Kouki owners can tap DIRECTLY to their full-range TPS with very little fuss.

Aside from all the other replies, I think one of the BIGGEST basic requirements of installing and tuning a stand-alone EMS unit is some basic understanding of modern engine control and fuel delivery systems.&nbsp A lot of the questions from Haltech owners are easily answered if these people knew how everything works, basically.
