what exactly casues a clutch to slip ?

mine is slipping.

act says the clutch disc comes new with 8.00mm of thinkness, and they need to be replaced at 6.30mm wear. Mine has anywhere from 7.40 to 7.60 thick. I have a new super heavy duty pp from act also and a 9lb fly also from act, this has some wear and needs to be resurfaced soon. S5 Tii trans btw

What exactly causes a clutch to slip. I'm tired of pulling my engine replacing stuff, I want to do it once more and have it work.

Where was the engagement in relation to the pedal position?

The clutch starts pulling the car with the peddle about %90 released, before I installed a new pp the clutch peddle would grab at about %5 released. Really stumped on this.

would driving the car with a slipping clutch cause more heat and ruin my new pressure plate ? I'm not racing on the car with the slipping clutch but rather driving it to and from places like a normal car, its my DD

try adjusting the clutch pedal so it grabs farther down, maybe its not releasing fully on this new one u have.

You need two things for a clutch to grab: friction between the materials and a force pressing the materials against eachother. I'd put my money on the lack force either from a thin disc, weak PP, or only partial disengagement.

I checked the slave moves the clutch fork. yes.

The disc is within the tolerance.

I can adjust the peddle free play by tightening the adj screw through the firewall into the master. This really only changes how much distance/free play I have before feeling the pressure of the heavy duty pressure plate.

Does the stock T2 master/slave up to the task of applying enough pressure to engage the pp and clutch ? My pressure plate is an equivalent of a stage 3 act pp, act doesn't use stage terminology that is why I say this.

Did you let the clutch settle in?

not sure what you mean by settle in. I used the alignment tool and torqued the pp down then put the engine back in the car.

can you explain ?

I think he meant breaking the clutch in. I think ACT recommends 300 miles of easy driving before any hard launches.

at .30 bar it will slip. More like anytime I hit boost.
