What a dumb rx-7 owner (long)
Ok the other night i went to the drags and this guy comes up to me...he asked me if the rx-7 was mine...i told him ya...he said he thought he was the only one that ever came out here with an rx-7...he said that he has a turbo with nitrous running 10's....i asked if i could see it...he said it wasnt here (sure how convinent) anyways, he said that his thermal reactor broke (wtf is that something like a flux capacitor?) if its real let me know lol....anyways he says he will meet me next wensday with it...so next wensday comes around and he shows up with a 88 rx-7 n/a that looks alot like the turbo he described...so i ask him whats up...he said turbo still not working...he says that this car runns 15's all night...and if i want to race...i said maybe later(i was waiting on my friends to show up) anyways he has it hood up and i take a look, he is messing with the idle screw, so i ask him if he is having idle problems..he said no that the screw was to allow more air flow to the car which makes it faster (duh) i told him it was for your idle...he told me it wasnt and that he knew alot about these cars...well he ran his car and it ran a 18.xxx lol i asked him what happend? did you adjust the screw right...anyways that night he got his lowest run of 17.18x i ran a 16.4 then i snapped my output shaft on the rear end...it was my only second time racing...and i spun my tires all of first gear..so i can run 15's if i get my launch right. anyways after my first run he wouldnt race me lol...sorry for the long story
Peace

A flux capacitor used in conjunction with a thermal reactor and a T04-bx mounted sideways, will get you in the mid 11's. Mount the flux capacitor in reverse osmossis and a negative ionic transfer mode and you'll get in the low 11's See you at the race track.

I know this really belongs in the lounge, but it puzzles me why people act like that fellow. What does he have to gain? Do they do it for fun or some fault in their character?? Or a lack of character?

Here's a pic of a rotary with it's stock thermal reactor still on it:

It's the big silver thing where the exhaust manifold/header would be.
85 lbs of cast iron, and installed on all Mazdas from the R100 through the RX2, RX3, RX4, Cosmo, and up to the '81 RX7. BMW also used a thermal reactor on many of the '70s and early '80s models. In both cases, thermal reactors were replaced with catalytic converters in subsequent models.
Thermal reactors allowed fairly low emissions (for the day) on regular gas (which couldn't be run in cars with catalytic converters). As emission laws changed, thermal reactors couldn't cope. (and it's a good thing, as they were heavy, and held a LOT of heat next to the engine. BMWs had issues with heads cracking becasue of this...)

COYOTE-1 I was not refering to you. I was refering to the dork who was BSing you about running 10's with his turbo. He's the one with the screwed up head. I was just wondering what made people like that tick. Really a waste of time wondering, I suppose. No reflection on you whatsoever.

If when you say ghetto air hole, are you refering to that one single half inch hole below the rear exaust port hole, its dedicated to the EGR valve on 86-88. Can't be seen unless the manifold is off, so if your looking at something that can be seen from the external, then you got me.
