What does this thingy do?

Sorry no pic; but I can explain it! You know that one hose that comes off of the black intake tube that runs to that little electronic solenoid valve? Yeah; the one that runs into the dynamic chamber via a 60 degree hose. The hose goes right next to the VDI actuator. I'm assuming at some RPM it lets air into the dynamic chamber. I'm curious if this is necessary? If it is necessary, does it need to be metered air? Or can I just put one of those little air filters on it?

I tore my engine apart a while ago, and saw that. Mine's capped off w/ a factory looking cap. I assumed it was the vacuum feed to the cruise control.

You know what you are probably right. I have seen others with it capped off. My car used to have cruise but it doesn't work anymore. If that is, what it is, then I will deffinitely just plug it up.

Thanks!
