What does it take to make my 7 e85-e100 ready. I have ID injectors and juicy pump.

Locally we dont have e85. But i plan on buying a 50/55 gal. drum of e85 as my 7 is not my daily.

THese answers will be the final verdict if i will or wont.

I want to know all necessary info.
IS the factory gas tank even capable of holding e85-e100? HOw long can it hold it.

What about the factory hardlines and fuel rails?
Are typical rubber fuel lines able to run e85 through them?

What r the do's and dont's?

I have ID 1000's x2 and 2000's x2 with new aeromotive 340lph pump.
Goal is to make it to 350whp on BNR4 and stock ports. OR 300WHP stock turbo for short auto-x tracks.

E-85 is cheaper at the pump than any other fuel. And its proven to be good with high power.

Add 30% fuel across the board and a fuel system that can support it.

E85 runs cooler, cleaner, and safer. The decrease in fuel economy is compensated by the lower price. Smells great too

When I get my Turbo II running, I plan on running E85 on the stock chipped ecu with nothing more than a SAFC for controlling it.

it can run high hp because its basically alcohol. but mpg will decrease + it does not work well with the stock system.

cheaper ? ... hmm with the ever increasing oil prices, I don't think it will be any cheaper, consider it still takes diesel trucks to deliver these stuff (not to mention the farmers and all related process still depends heavily on fossil oil)

with enough money & effort anything can be done. but if doing it for MPG (which some people "claim" they are) I will just take a noob stick out and smack their head with it.

junito- if you do not have the ability to easily switch maps I would think twice about it if there are no stations by you

YOU people... Did you forget to remember what you read before you posted?

1. NOt my daily driver. IT is a race car only that will be street legal.
2. WHy would i have ID 2000's and a aeromotive 344lph without a EMS. I have a haltech people.

I just want answers about the corrosive characteristics of it. WIll an 88TII fuel tank be able to hold e-85 without corroding. WHat about fuel rails, factory hard lines?

If you cant answer this please dont post.

ALl of the posts so far = useless.

I run three RX on E85 using 720 injectors and a RTEK2.0. I have no problems but I can assure you there are threads out there listing god only knows how many things/reasons you should not use E85 unless you change this that and the other. Up 'em says I.

Sorry, I don't go looking in my gas tank looking for corrosion. RTEK 2.0 has the ability for one to save different fuel maps. Like if I decide getting E85 is too much of a hassle ( and it really is in fact) then I can swap fuel maps and go down to Boogaloos Gas Pump and buy some of that Regular ole gasoline.

I think there is even a FORUM on this site discussing Alternate fuels. Gone.

No way I could run E85 without a RTEK 2.0 to adjust the fuel. No way. Car would run crummy without some sort of GOOD fuel controller. FYI for those who might want to use e85. Theres not all that much good to say about E85 other than a higher octane value. Milage sucks. Less energy in E85 vs pump gas.

How many guys that do run it complain about it eating the rubber fuel lines or metal tank? I have a few reputable sources that run normal fuel system components with no problems on ethanol, seems the only people that say it will eat up normal rubber fuel hose/ fuel tanks, etc are the ones that haven't been around it personally.

Generally it's recommended that fuel hardlines be swapped to stainless steel, that rubber lines by replaced with compatible hoses and that the fuel tank be coated. As well, aluminum fuel rails need to be replaced by stainless. This is apparently because of the corrosive nature of E85 and the water it likes to absorb. I've not run it though, so I have no first hand experience.

ive also been told while running e-85, that if you do run aluminum fuel pieces (fuel rail, surge tank) that the pieces be anodized due to a chemical reaction with e-85 and aluminum.
just from what i was told

even e10 oxidizes aluminum, we see this with boats all the time, it is a big problem.
I would imagine E85 only makes matters worse

thats why ive been told that anodizing it is mandatory, prevents the chemical reaction from occuring.
again, just hearsay

Probably not as it's more of an air/fuel mixture undergoing combustion.

No aluminum on the housings is exposed to the combustion chamber.

E85 has less energy per volume compared to gasoline. Since your car is a racecar...is weight a concern?

That's a very good idea! I know at my work very we use a Mil-spec Anodizing that helps to prevent corroision.

there is a alternate fuel section of the forum where you can absorb the information that others are putting out there.
You will need to use a different type of oil, the guys I know running E85 are running Klotz premix, combined with the e85 it actually smells pretty good, doesnt have that weed wacker smell

I use a castor oil, similar in nature to the regular 2stroke. You can find a brand variation at any motorcycle shop.

As far as my fuel system goes, I have aluminum KG rails and SS braided fuel lines using the stock tank sumped. I havent noticed any corrosion at all. Even in the past few months taking everything apart I haven't seen any corrosion. The car has even sat a few weeks at a time. I guess if you wanted the peace of mind you could take all these precautions...I havent
