What does the Inital Set Coupler do?

I've been trying to figure this one out for a while, but I'm finding the answer.

Real quick: what does the Intial Set Coupler do, and how do you use it?

Thanks.

Jumper the two sockets on the plug. When you do that you can make adjustments to the idle without the ECU trying to correct the adjustments you are making. Such as the BAC trying to raise/lower the idle while you are setting the idle.

It has little to NO function vs setting the timing as long as your idle is say, below 900rpm when checking the timing with a timing light.
