What does fuel cut feel/sound like?

I've never really experienced it. I just started running an open racing beat downpipe on my TII, and I'm still on the stock ECU. I plan on using a straight pipe back to the stock y-pipe and mufflers, but for now, I'm worried about overboosting, and getting fuel cut to the rear rotor. I just want to know if there's a way to tell if it's happening.

In b4 "Boom!" or "Pop!"

Real answers, bitches.

basically it feels like you start mis-firing and your accelerations slows down a lot. it feels like it's doing something it's not supposed to at high rpms. I think it's pretty hard to miss but I've known pretty smart rotary people to mistake it for something else.

when you hit fuel cut you feel a hesitation or hiccup in the engine under full boost, its very obvious...

At least in my NA it feels like you hit a brick wall. You will definately know when it happens.

everyone says brick wall **** ... its not a brick wall. basically you run out of fuel and your car is trying to figure out wtf to do so it tries to keep the car going.

you'll hear a sound similar to a blender (lack of better term) and the car will not accelerate until you let off the throttle.

yea, it makes a weird "blenderish" or well, just generally negative sound. Do it about a half dozen times or so and you'll need a rebuild, or worse.

You're best bet before doing any kind of modification is to support it with a fuel pump, injectors, and some sort of management like the RTEK (or whatever your choice may be). Then do all the other reliability modifications, etc. Yea yea, its the more boring route, but it beats having to do a rebuild, etc.

Yes, hitting the factory set rev limeter will cause Fuel Cut. Matters not if it is a NA or Turbo. Turbo will hit fuel cut on Over Boost or Redline. NA just hits it on redline. Either way, feels the same.

Have not expierenced it in a while. Usually at AutoX when on a long straight in 2nd gear. It is not an expierence that I enjoy.

Unless you have your engine ported out enough to deep-throat a cucumber, you're way overshooting your powerband and hurting your times. I know there are points where you still have room to accelerate but not enough to shift twice comfortably--and it can feel like your chest is pressed against a wall from the lack of options--but often it's better to just shift up just a little early before you get to that point so you can have modest torque up to the corner, rather than next to none at all for that last stretch.

Unless we're talking first or second gear (which I brilliantly just noticed you are), then yeah, not much to be done about that.
