Yes we probably all would, but it's just as easy to fudge chassis dyno readings as it is engine dyno readings. They're just as accurate as one another (depending on type), but the chassis dyno introduces a lot more variables.
It's like buying a house and the builder overstates the square footage by a couple hundred. Nobody would stand for that, so why should we stand for this?
But they're not telling you incorrect information. They say "this is how much power our engine produces", and it most probably does.

Hey dude I've been seriously thinking about changing my career into aeronautics and have been wanting to go to Embry Riddle. A few family members of mine have gone there but don't talk about it much. How is it like there??? Email me: Kyrasis6@hotmail.com

IHP = Horsepower developed by the engine.

Indicated mean effective pressure = The total force acting on a piston/rotor face.

IHP=PLANK/33,000

P=IMEP

L= Lenght of stroke(ft.)

A=Area of piston head/rotors face

N=rpm dvided by 2 (pistons only)

K=Number of cylinders/rotors

33,000 is the number of foot pounds in 1hp

Friction Horse power
FHP= The horse power needed to over come friction of the moving engineparts.

Brake horsepower = IHP-FHP
