What do you think that I will run tonight?
Goin to the track tonight with about 10 other RX7s and a 300z, mazda mp3 and a honda. FAFracing rules....what else can I say. Anyways my mods are in me signature.
As a club we go to the track for open track night the first friday of every month...all you can race for 10 bucks after 8PM.
One month ago I ran a 15.38 at 93 mph I believe. Since then I have removed both bumper supports and brackets weighing approximately 50 lbs total. I have removed both the power steering pump, ac pump, and bracket. I removed the ac belt ( I had already cut the ps belt at the last 1320). All that crap weighed around 60 lbs. I removed half of the pulley from the crank that was previously utilized by the ac belt as well totalling a lb or two of rotating mass removed. So total I removed about 112 lbs from the car as well as the ac belt and little bit of rotating mass. I will have a fresh oil change as well as new spark plugs for the racing tonight and I just got done building my cold air box with ducting to the front grill (Before I was running a cone filter in to hot air....eww). And the final modification that I performed to my car since last time at the track was the removal and capping of the coolant lines that run through the throttle body and BAC valve. I disconnected the BAC valve wiring so that it doesn't act up on me.
I enjoyed reading other threads similar to this so I figured I would post this up and see who can estimate closest. I am hoping to hit 14s.
Wish me luck my fellow NA'ers!

Weight reduction coupled with cold air box, and assuming your skill level is about the same - 15.18. That's two-tenths from last time. I don't think the 14s will happen this time around for you, but of course, I wish the best of luck. And I've only drag raced once, so I know just about jack-squat of what your car may do.
14.9 @ 97 mph baby YEAH!!!! That cold air box is ****** incredible!! My intake warms up when sittin still in the staging lanes and it is ICE COLD when I get off the track! That 14.9 was with 30 psi in the tires and it happened to be the first run down!
Turns out that when the rest of the west coast of Florida decided to come to the track they laid enough rubber down to prevent anyone from getting traction the rest of the night so consequently the rest of my runs were not quite as great.
NA HOEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!

Looks like the S4 does a pretty good job when it comes time to put numbers down
Thanks guys! I still have an entire interior to strip out at some time and some other things to get rid of. So I figure another couple hundred pounds off and I should be hittin mid 14s....with slicks I might be able to hit low 14s-high 13s. All on a stock ported NA engine with a 350 dollar exhaust (that includes a RB header) essentially.....and a light flywheel that is really hurting my 1/4 mile performance!

Hehe I would love to get some slicks....maybe one day I will have a bit of extra cash for some slicks. I am content with my time right now though. I would rather save some money and start a project car though. I have been wanting to start a 20B project seeing as how Evil Aviator lives like 20 minutes from me.
Must have more money....
