if i were to make my own downpipe and midpipe for my 88 TII FC would that be a problem i know a place that dose the bends or would i just be safer to buy one made for spcificly my car i hear its not so great to make the Y pipe

typically most people just go custom catback after getting the downpipe and/or midpipe of their choice. You can get the Racing Beat 3'' DP for like 120, although if you want it to bolt up to the stock catback you need to get the presilencer too.

If you are firm set on dual, there are many custom exhuast shops that could make a decent y pipe. However look through the archives and you'll see the 23094320 page long single vs dual debate. Single is easier

 

Not at all. It's just exhaust pipe, not rocket science... Again, this is a simple job. Anyone with a bit of experience building exhausts would have no trouble with this.

i have a custom dp i could give you for free. catch is u have to buy the turbo, manifold, and wastegate that goes with it

 

I made my own 2.5" exhaust for my gxl, it wasnt all that hard but it took me about a day to do it. Did I mention that the mufflers are the "see thru" ones from my local bling-.bling store.

yea i might go with buying raceing beat exhaust, the thing is im trying to get a laptop computer so i thinking custom = more money in my pocket, do you think i will save a good amount of money or no

 

Custom will be a lot cheaper than a bolt on setup. I just got the best bolt on I could and I love it. it is not loud. Unless you rev it but I love it and it is great to just get the stuff in the mail and put it on in a couple of hours with a budy. Ofcourse my exhaust cost the same a a new laptop but I wanted it. You should proly just get a custom setup. Less $$

 

The RB 3" DP-PS combo will not bolt up to the stock CB. It is an entire system, DP to tailpipes, that can be purchased individually. I recommend spending the $125 for the 3" DP and have a shop run a pipe to the muffler of your choice.

Yeah, i was going to make a full 2.5" exhaust for my Base. Only problem is, how are you guys making the bends? I can get the piping cheap, but dont want to have to run back and forth to the exhaust shop to bend it, fit it, bend it again, ect ect. Thanks

 

I buy mandrel bends then cut and weld the pieces together

 

i personally think the RB turbo back system is very competively priced.

the local rotary shop quoted me 1100 cdn dollars for 3 inch stainles Steel mandrel bent system. dual exit, and they will use no name mufflers


the RB system is around that price as well.

 

Where do you get the bends? i saw some bends at Autozone, but they didnt look all that great. Thanks

I made a single outlet, it is teh easiest way, all you need is flanges, mufflers, pipeing, two 30degree bends and a tip.
You also need to: Know how to use a welder, Not wear your church clothes, buy some beers and ask a frind to help you line it up.

I'm going to be in the same boat after we get the engine back from the rebuild shop. The stock exhaust was so rusted that when we tried to impact the cat off it ripped the exhaust in half! so needless to say im gonna need new exhaust very soon. look's like im going to have to brush up on my welding skills.
