Theres a factory alarm plug on the 87-88 right behind the glove box... it is so simple even a neo-installer could hook up to it.

Makes it like a 30 minute install

I don't like where the switch for the sunroof is located. I have to hold it until it fully opens, and to make matters worse, it was sticking and everytime I used it I had to nudge it with my other hand, which meant driving with my knees for a few seconds. Maybe I'm just used to my Honda. The switch is nice and close to the steering wheel. I don't mind the switch being up there but to not have an "automatic" function like we have today gets really annoying. Boy, are we spoiled.

hhmm... lets see, having to run monthly (or more) compression test that do nothing but tell you your engine is blown/blowing. Replacing engines very frequently. Brittle and oily wiring harness, brittle plastic, brittle windsheild, rear steer bushings, how slow N/As are stock/lightly modded. hhmm... hell, i dunno, i think im going to start looking for a supra, somethign reliable out the *** and cheaper to modify. I cant get this ******* new motor to run for ****, put a new piston motor in and it'll hum till the sun goes down.

I hate how it is too nice to take to work where I will get mud all over its interior. Oh, and the electrical system, that is bothersome. But it is a (cheap) true sports car and that makes it worthwhile.

I agree with Icemark . Anyway I don't really have anything that I don't like...maybe the rear steering but that's not bad either.

A) The fact that mine is sans turbo
B) The under-the-dash speaker positioning has to be the worst I have ever seen for sound quality (Ok... so I do some SQL comps here and there, sue me.)
C) That I can't drive it during the winter because the backend likes to slide like a **** whenever I get on the gas (and I can't put my no-rust beauty on these salted roads)

aging stuff used to annoy me, so i got all new parts!! new door handles from mazda are about $85 each painted in factory colors...not too bad if you ask me, my drivers side broke this year so i got 2 new ones for the car brand new trim pieces for each door lining the bottom of the window and the door (new ones are soooo nice, coated and very shiney/wet looking), $30 each, new JDM FTP lenses w/ nice yellow raybrigs $75 each. Also re-sprayed my mirrors, wiper-arms and some trim pieces (flat black) . All these little pieces make a world of difference...especially on the older S4's (the ultimate fix is to swap S5 nose & tails, can be found cheap if you look around)

Hmmmmm where do I start.....

-Persistent but slight exhaust leak that I cannot seem to eliminate after multiple disassemblies/reassemblies/replacement of the stock exhaust. Sorry if none of you can find exhaust gaskets anywhere in the country for a 2nd gen. I think I've bought all of them.

-Suspension/chassis creaks and groans, even after replacing all struts, both sway bars, and most of the bushings.

-Overdesigned intake and emissions control systems. Could there possibly be one more selenoid and a bigger clusterfuck of vacuum lines under the hood?

-Cheap *** plastic on the interior.....lots of broken and loose parts that rattle and squeak.

-Early 80's looking interior in a 90's car. Stuff is becoming more "groovy" looking every time I get into it.....almost embarassing to leave the top down for fear that somebody might snicker at it.

-Stiff, thick leather used for the seats.

-Car looks stupid with the top down and no top boot. Takes about 5 minutes to put the boot on it, having to flop each seat forward and open both doors to snap the thing on.

-Expensive parts!!

-No freakin' cup holder. Do the Japanese not drink anything while they drive?

-Sloppy manual gearbox with long throw

-Slow power windows

-Door locks that work inconsistently. If I lock my drivers side door on the way out, the passenger's side sometimes comes unlocked when I shut the drivers door.....other times it stays locked....even if I have the outside door handle lifted while shutting the door.

-Always some electrical problem somewhere.

-Lots of road noise

OK....that's about it. Damn! I'm wondering why I still own this car. I guess the list of things I like about it outweighs this list.

not to veere off topic but had to state...

It's not that the Japs don't drink while they drive...it is just a fashion amongst the true sports cars. Supras, Sevens, 300s, and Skylines do not have cup holders. But think about it...neither do Vettes, old REAL camaros and mustangs, or Vipers. And also neither do Ferraris, Porsches (they might but not all models), Lamborginis, Lotus', TVRs, Jags (coupes), Aston Martins (DB7, Volante, Vanquish...), list goes on...

It just goes to show that REAL sports cars do not have cup holders. Another sign the the car may be a REAL sports car is that at least one version of it comes in either a hatchback or convertable.

The rust! the goddamn car-cancer eating through my hood, wheelwells and sunroof!

-the horrid gas milage. Even for an N/A.

-the stupid little problems that add up real quick.

-the weak-*** N/A tranny that tells you its going to die soon by whining louder than a 3 year old being dragged away from toys r us!

- (not specific for RX-7) having only two seats when your freinds hot sister AND her hot friend both need a ride home. DAMNIIIIIITT!

i hear that man, i've had 2 seats ever since i started driving. my old 300zx and my turbo2. i think i may go with 4 seats next. but i dont know, you get more one-on-one time if you have 2 seats and a hot girl in the passenger seat.
