What do you guys think about this t04 airesearch

Hey guys, I just picked up a turbo for my 87 tii and wanted to get your opinion on it befor installing it.

It is an AIresearch fatory rebuild with 0 miles on it. and here are the specs.

factory rebuilt TO4, it is oil cooled, 1.75 AR hot side, P Trim, V Band - super 60 cold side.

Ive been told that the hot side is going to be alittle big, for a street car. My car is not a daily drive but I do injoy driving it on the street and the track. And I would like to have some sort of power from 2-3000 rpm, but Im told this turbos not going to make efficient boost until 4000rpm. Im just wanting to know how you guys think this will perform.

here is a link to some pics.

And ofcourse you will have to know my other mods. So here they are

MICROTECH
FRONTMOUNT
1600cc secondarys
Boost controler
FD fuel pump (but I am shopping for an upgrade.)
And some other nic nacs.

Are you running stock ports? If so, good luck ever trying to spool that thing. My stock port had trouble just spooling a 1.15 before 4500.

Unfotunaly yes. I haven’t had the good fortune of the stock motor blowing. It just doesn’t feel right to replace a strong motor. But I do see what your saying. That is my next step is to get a street ported motor. How much do you think the turbo is worth if I decide to sell it?

you can buy a turbine housing for ~$100 or so.... i don't think you'd spool that thing before 6k rpm with a 1.75..
maybe bump that down to a .96 or somewhere in that area.

I had one on the supra, you could tell it was a turbo designed for a truck. it needs 22+ psi to be efficient...and it wouldn't even think about breaking vacuum until 3500 rpm. My head and manifolds are ported and polished, compression is 7.5:1, upgraded fuel, intake, exhaust, EBC...

airesearch t04's sell for under $150 all day long. It's really not a bad deal for a rebuilt turbo...as long as you can spool it.
