What Do You Guys Do About Emissions?

I was looking into buying a 2.5" Bonez DP and high flow cat, but going with the racing beat DP and presilencer looked like it might give more performance, and also be a lot cheaper. My inspection I think is due next December, which is a long ways away, but I was wondering what you guys with this kind of setup did around inspection time? Did you just hook back up the stock parts or something? On a somewhat different topic, is the air pump still necessary with any other cats besides the stock ones?

Generally we search.

YES. ALL cats require air to properly function. As MANY other posts about this subject have indicated (), people with non-functional or dysfunctional ACVs, air pumps, etc. have trouble passing emisisons tests for this reason, with or w/o stock cats.

And most people do have to swap back some form of cat + emissions crap when/if they have to take a test.

Meh, not sure its worth the hassle for me being as if I did decide to go with a straight through exhaust I would probably take out the air pump and all the other crap thats not neccessary afterwards, making it even more of a pain in the *** to prep for emissions testing.

I feel that the only real benifit of removing the emissions equipment, it to make working on the car easier, and to rid of vaccum lines and silinoids that may cause problems in the future if break. Of course you loose a slight amount of weight removing the airpump, ACV, etc..but nothing that will be even reconizable. The performance different between a midpipe and a good high-flow cat is also negligable, a couple HP at the best. I feel that if you have emssions testing in your area, it is fully possible to retain all emissions equipment, and still make gobs of power, although it might cost a bit more, and leave a slightly more cluttered engine bay.

I personally pass emissions...Then I rip it all out...Then I re-install it around emissions time, then I rip it out when I pass....

Its a vicious cycle...
