I found these two burnt wire connections earlier today. They arent hooked up.









Are they important? What do they goto? Are they related?

1st pic - big plastic circular white connector that's melted
2nd pic- rectangular white connector on wire on right of picture

Pic 1, the ABS pump that's now deleted.

Pic 2, all front harnesses have the plugs for GXL AAS struts that are normally clipped onto the strut towers, that's what the white 6 terminal plug goes to (nothing on a non-GXL model).

I guess I won't have abs then unless I fix the wires and get a new pump.

As far as the aas, this is a t2 so it goes to nothing then.

Do you see a big difference having abs ? I may later fix it if its worth my time.

From what I have read on here, 2nd gen abs isn't that good compared to 3rd gen.

Edit: I removed mine, no regrets (almost 2 years)
It was leaking though so I just yanked it out.

Mostly only 89-91 t2's had ABS, a VERY few 88 t2's came with them but I've only ever seen one in all my time dealing with FC's. The ABS is nice if it works, but the FC ABS pumps have issues leaking and that is why most people eliminate it and go for a conventional brake system. I wouldn't try to reinstall ABS where it's been removed, the parts will be too hard to find in usable condition.

Ok thanks and this car is an 87 not an 88 so the chances are probably even less I would think.

I'm just wondering how these connectors got burned, who knows.

edit - Also the connector right next to the big circular one in the picture is melted a bit too, is that also a connector for the abs ?

I think the turbo still has the shielding on the ex manif.

The other wires for the aas aren't really in the vicinity of the Turbo though.

Maybe they grounded something outon that one who knows.

All that matters to me is that everything is the way it should be.

I didn't find a fcd and the car has a 3" exhaust, not too smart.

I only want to run like 8-10psi on the stock system with a fcd. Anymore I don't think would be very safe.

About that AAS plug...
I thought all the harnesses had it too but my '90 GTU does not.
No sign of antilock brake wiring either.

Maybe the base model S5s got pruned down harnesses?

Everyone gets rid of the aas when they replace their shocks anyways, like everyone gets rid of the dtss eliminators.

i know that the lesser models don't get the power window wire, aas seems to be hit and miss though

Only ABS equipped cars got ABS wiring.

But it seems like most of the FC's that I see have the wiring for AAS at the front struts, but some of the s5's did not, it seems hit or miss.
