Question what to do?

im new to the rx-7 world. ive always been a honda guy, but i got rid of my 96 accord and bought my dads 86 rx-7. i want to do a tII swap and manual swap. what should i do, buy both brand new or buy a broke down tII and have it rebuilt and swapped to mine? i know it would be easier to just buy a tII car, but the one i have has sentimental *sp* value. my dad bought it brand new in 86 and ive always wanted it.

This has been asked many a time. Having a TII as a parts car would most likely be your best bet. Find a one that is being parted out (with or without motor) and just take the entire rear end out and slap it on your 86. If you find a nice parts car with a motor, it'll cost you less then buying a TII most likely. That's my two cents. Welcome to the rotary world!

My advice is to get the TII drivetrain and an engine, but that's it. Use a standalone EMS system (ie. Microtech) to run the thing. Read the FAQ above to find out exactly what parts you need.

rebuilds can cost ya. Keep it and get a T2 Engine w/ ECU+wiring harness and tranny. Then Swap.
