It a vacuum solenoid. If I remember right it's for the Relief valve. No biggie the car will run. I don't believe there is a big adverse effect to it not working properly. Go to a junkyard and get a "new" one. As a matter of fact, grab a couple because if you ever plan on putting you hands near them again you'll probably brake it again.

If you snapped the little back plastic **** off, dont worry aout it, that part doesnt appear to have any function apart from getting in the way and being snapped off. Your best bet would be to start searching for 'rats nest' and 'solenoid rack' and rip all that **** out

The orange connector solenoid controls vacuum/pressure to the fuel pressure regulator, if you do not plan on eliminating everything then you do need it. There is nothing rare about the solenoids, I have a box of 500 of them at the shop, simply because they fail and they are pretty fragile after 20 years of baking in a rotary oven.

BTW, the black plastic "*****" are air filters to stop crude from being sucked into the solenoids, so they have a very important function. However it is not what he broke off. He broke the actual nipple that goes to the vacuum line.
