What could be the cause of a drained battery?

A few days ago my car died while it was idling. I found out it was because I had a dead battery. I just got the alternator replaced and the battery seems to be recharging fine. I understand a defective alternator could cause the battery not to recharge. Now my question is what are other factors that could drain my battery?

Thanks

so, are you still having problems or not? i cant tell.

well anyway, it could be caused by bad cables, bad terminals(including dirty ones) and not very well tightened clasp.

Well, if your battery was on a concrete floor (like your garage) for awhile, that could have drained it.

on driveshafts if your gona run alot of power, get a large one (diameter) one and itll tent to toss less, but thats only if your gona run a ton of hp.

I intend on keeping the car stock. Just so that you know my 86 NA is an automatic. I just think that I need to change it because there's a slight clunking sound when I shift from R N and D.
