What could cause this car to idle weird?

Hi everyone,

New to this forum and is about to get myself my first rotary on monday.
Let me know what you guys think of this

88 Rx 7 (non turbo)
white
160k miles
mod: exhaust, this front bumper that is not properly bolt on, but is secure, knightsports coilover, stripped back side

all for $800

No oil leak or anything, but the engine idles weird, it will rev up then come down and rev up and come down in that pattern. What could be the problem?

owner said its vacuum leak. What do you guys think?

A lot of unknowns will be answered simply by checking compression on the engine especially at that mileage. Search around the forum and you will come across the way to check compression on rx7. Thats something I would do if I was getting it, the erratic idling can be diagnosed later, possibly a vacuum leak.

the hunting idle on FC is most of the time as simple as TPS calibration

you need to jump the set coupler and then reestablish the TPS calibration to show less than 1 K ohms for idle position

search is your friend
