I agree, how much you do yourself can totaly make or break the deal. Also you have to think about streetability. If its not going to be a track only car 400RWHP is VERY hard on a 2nd gen and have a useable car. Also whats your car backround? 400RWHP in a RX-7 is ALOT faster than 400RWHP in a big block or somthing like that. you don't need 400rwhp to compete with Vet's/Vipers and cars like that.

The engine build alone is about $6K, and then there's the turbo, turbo manifold, FMIC, wastegate, BOV, aluminum radiator, EMS, boost controller, exhaust, clutch & pressure plate, etc. You are looking at a lot of cash for this.

$2000 rebuilt engine
$500 custom made FMIC
$1500 t04+manifold
$1300 haltech
$700 exhaust
$350 boost controller
$150 BOV
$400 wastegate
$800 clutch/flywheel
$400 1600cc's + upgraded rail.

that should be around $7k this is assuming you do all the work yourself and can get hooked up with some dyno time for tuning. and dont forget all the ghetto mods. you should be 400hp capable with that

I don't agree with that. Just because he's not a millionaire doesn't mean he can't afford it. Hes on the right track to affording it by creating a budget IMO.

you can build a reliable 400hp car for about $6k+, id expect to spend $8k or so.

There are people who run 400 hp through the stock block with no porting, a street port would be just perfect for a streetable car with gobs of power.

but isnt soul assassins car fully streetable? im looking do do the same thing..lol why is it so hard on the rx-7 i am planning to get a full bridge and renforce the hell out of the motor, lol i would think you would need some custom stuff to handle the hp at around 400+ am i right in this asumption?

the stock TII drivetrain is pretty tough, there's not a whole lot you can do to beef it up. you can do a KAAZ diff, and chromolly half shafts, but that's about it, and those are for crazy people .

"Streetable" is a relative term, some people think a fully bridgeported motor with a 9 lb flywheel, an xtreme pressure plate, and a T51R turbo is streetable some people think a car with a full rollcage is also streetable. It's all about personal preference i guess .

The Chassis of the car is actually very strong, i know several hardcore drag FC's that run 9's with no problem on the stock chassis.

You might want to dowel pin the motor. it's not that incredibly necissary under 500 hp, but the extra security is nice.

You don't need no custom stuff to be able to have 400 streetable rwhp. You don't even need an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator. You sure don't have to have a BP engine.

Alf blew up his engine because, I believe, he had a mistake built into the engine or, a momentary lapse in reasoning.
