what clutch to go with??

im gonna buy a new clutch tomorrow and i have like 400.00 to spend ,so what clutck should i go with? I'm putting like 300 to the ground and stock clutck slips at 3500 in second gear now that i fixed fuel problemi had . A couple of friends said to go with a centerforce but i 'm thinking more like act hd pp with a 6 puck sprung from one of my buds at trackwellperformance.com here locally. he drifta a 240 with same setup and has had no problems whatsoever . i've driven his car at an auto-X and it doesnt slip at all no chatter nothing but he also is running the 11 lb flywheel but i dont have the cash for that this month. the question is what you runnin?

so any feedback positive or negative is much greatly appreciated thanks

An ACT 6puck and their HD pressure plate will hold way more torque than you will need, probably 450ft/lbs+. It will make for a very aggressive engagement and the car wil be hard to drive on the street. Look at one of their street disc's to match that pressure plate or if you want it to hold a little more get their super duty pressure plate along with the street disc.

I currently use a XTR Stage 3 clutch, which is a 6 puck sprung disc with a pretty light pressure plate. I would not recomend it nor would I put it in the car if I could do it over.

as stated earlier my bud at trackwell performance run the same setup but on a 240 and it feels pretty good to me . he might be running the softer pp though .oh yeah im am going to be doin a 450 hp build pretty soon too so i'll need a streonger pp then and i would hate to have to buy another. it will probably be a couple of months until the build but i need a clutch now, i cant accelerate in third too great b/c major slippage and i need to outrun this mercury murauder in j ville .he has the 4 valve 4.6 s/c cobra enging puttin 480 down but he's really heavy so my 3?? should put up a good fight especially when i up the boost!!!

It's been a while since i've really looked at clutches, but I think the most aggressive street disc and the super pressure plate will get the job done for you. keep in mind a rotary makey a lot less torque than a 240 which is why the same clutch on the 240 will feel very different than on the 7. Ask your buddy what the torque spec on that combo is, it will be listed somewhere. And remember, your torque is going to be a fair bit lower than you horsepower with a rotary.

Just my opinion.

ACT makes really good clutches, i use the 4 puck with heavy duty pressure plate in my first gens and will go with one in my T2 when the time comes, or you can take a look at SPEC clutches, which are also a reliable clutch
