Question What clutch???

I have an 88 GXL thats becoming a turbo car. I'm putting in a j-spec motor from a local importer. My question is what clutch would i need. I'm 90% sure i need a clutch for a turbo II not a n/a. I'm going to use the tranny from the gxl for the time being. Thanks for any info.

are you talking about buying a good aftermarket racing clutch? or just a everyday clutch for a gtu tranny?? im buying a act 6 puck with a extream PP this week, if you want a good performance clutch then thats what i would get, at www.optionsautosalon.com they have them for about 345$

keep in mind that the clutches in turbos and NA's are different diameters. so you need to get a clutch to go with whatever tranny/flywheel you will be using.

ACT is good

You need to buy a turbo clutch and also get a turbo drivetrain if you dont have it. The N/A drivetrain is already weak enough in N/A form...turbo power will tear up that drive train with the quickness...the clutch will be the first thing to pop then the tranny. -Gabe

I have the ACT clutch and I love it. I wouldn't go with anything else.

Click on the link at the top of the page for RX7store.net. They have ACT clutches and they are cheaper than retail.

OK i need an everyday clutch to get around while i finance the rest of the swap. It will have an n/a transmission and a turbo II flywheel? i will need a clutch for a Turbo or a n/a? I understand its not recommended but thats not what i'm asking. I just need a clutch that can work temporarily. Eventually i will be getting an ACT but now i need something that will work for a few months.

fly wheel has to match tranny, n/a to n/a, tll to tll, so if u r using the n/a tranny u need the n/a flywheel and clutch

Would have to agree... ACT Xtreme Stage II is what i got for 375... a lil excessive but oh well. Still fun!

ok fellers, like i said in an earlier post the flywheel and clutch diameters are different between TII and NA.

a TII flywheel has a different diameter than a NA one, a TII flywheel wouldn't really work with the NA starter now would it.
So, like Rx_7_driver said, the tranny and flywheel must match.

there is no problem bolting a NA flywheel to a TII engine just make sure that it is the same series S5, S4

Thank you for your time.
