What Causes Wheel Hop?

just wondering if it actually the differential, moving (floping) around? or can it be from other suspension parts...I was prying the other day and saw movement in between the Right and Left Differential mounts????.......or could it just be way I am engaging the clutch?

I believe it could be those mount, but would definately point the finger to suspention wear and/or settings (in an aftermarket setup) first.

My diff mounts (all 3) are new, and there is still plenty of wheel hop to go around...

The differential is mounted with rubber supports, so it will move a bit when pryed on.

I also have the AGX's, but with Eibach Pro-kit springs, and have some wheel hop. My rear shocks are set on '4' right now (I think the AGX's adjust in one direction only, but I don't remember if it is 'dampening' or 'rebound'). It seemed to help the hopping a little.

If I launch hard there is no hop, just wheel spin.
If I take off like normal driving, no hop.
It's in between that it hops. I have been thinking it could be a clutch issue (improper operator use?). Or it's a product of compensating for a weak clutch.

I think it's mostly suspension problems...my '90 Ford Probe LX with a 3.0 V6 (yes, it's FWD, I know) gets wheelhop from hell if I tromp it and dump the clutch...however, my RX has never given me a wheelhop problem...
