What causes HIGH oil preasure?
Hey all, here is the deal
- 86 rx-7 N/A Base
- 100% stock
- 158k miles b4 motor took a ****.
- reinstalled Mazda reman engine!
- oil preasure was pegged at 110psi blew the front seal
- 2nd reman motor installed SAME ******* problem.
so my question is what cause high oil preasure? I was thinking oil cooler was clogged. no kinks in the lines or bends. What else? it radically jumps up from 60 - 110 in a few seconds. at idle it regisers 20psi ? any one had similar problem? I need help please!! thanks

hmmm...2 different remans, with different oil pressure relief valves? if you take the engine out of the equation, all ya got left is the cooler & the 2 lines, right? have you checked either yet? edit:you're not putting some BS new oil filter on the engines are you?

you know, unless the oil cooler is completely fubared, even if it's clogged internally, it should bypass all the oil at startup ('cause it's not hot yet), when you're getting the high pressure readings...did you check the hoses for obstructions when you reconnected them to the engine(s)? what viscosity of oil are you using?

10w30 and I did check for obstructions in the oil lines. but will double check for sure. but its weird it will be normal psi @60 for a few minutes while driving it around, then on deceleration is when it shoots way up their!!!. I KNOW it something that I'm over looking. because the engines run great and I can not IMAGINE Mazda had 2 fubared motors.. I will let you know out come. thanks

I just had a strange thought that maybe the compression of the rotors was making its way back to the lubrication system through the MOP injectors/lines, but I don't think that's even possible...are you SURE it's not electrical (just the oil pressure sender/ connector screwing with you)...what if the reman(s) had the o-ring/ teflon washer problem that pops up in rebuilds every now & then? Can't imagine that with a Mazda reman, though

Your not using the stock oil pressure guage right???
And how would you blow the front seal? your talking about the one behind the pulleys right?
That is not under pressure as far as I knew...?
Or are you talking about the front cover O-ring?
