what can cause limp mode?

i was driving my car today after getting my BOV put on and got into a little bit of boost, everything was well.. then the car cut out a little bit, and just started running crappy and anything over 20% throttle would induce misfire. If you really tried to give it gas it would just fall on its face. the car would come down and idle fine, but trying to give it any throttle made it hesitate and even buck a little. it really felt to me like the ecu kinda just jumped into limp mode after i boosted a little bit.

i only hit about .3 bar so it wasnt fuel cutting.

anyone have any ideas as to what could cause this? any kind of sensors being unplugged, etc.?

check the ecu codes and maybe your fuel pump. the OMP can cause limp mode, but if you check the ecu codes you can tell whether or not it's the OMP.

check the TPS. I dont know much about turbos but I left mine unpluged on my NA and got a similar behavior.

sounds like a sever vacuum leak or an AFM problem...this will happen if the AFM gets wet (the internals) as well...try swapping with a known good AFM, yours could be toast.

But really, check to see if the ECU is throwing any codes first.

check ECU codes, bad tps won't cause limp mode... just cause it to run really rich.

If your OMP did go out.. and your still driviing it.. don't expect that engine to last very long.

Premix for now till you find the problem.. last thing you want is to blow your motor because of OMP.

I've had identical experiences with "limp mode" on my n/a. It does it when it gets bloody hot under the hood.
I'd like to know what exactly causes this, and if there is a way to disable it? (hehe, get a microtech right?)

YOu know what I just relizied, you have siad you installed a bov, are you sure you don't have a boost leak? That can cause it run pig rich causing your car to run like crap and back fire.. just a thought.
