What brake set up does my car have?

The car is an 88 coupe, I’m not sure on the trim or know how to properly find it and doubt it would be much of a benefit as this car was somebody’s project before me.

Rotors all the way around are non vented 5 lug, the front calipers are 4 piston while the rear is what looks like the s5 single, pictured below. As far as I can tell from reading on here, if it was 4 piston fronts then the rears should have been vented rotors right?

the reason I’m asking is I’m super confused on what rotors I need to buy for replacements, and one of the rear calipers are seized so trying to see what my options are for that. Seems like new calipers are hard if not impossible to find for these cars.

sorry if this is a dumb question, but I feel more and more confused the more I read and hope I can get a straight answer this way

Read rotor and caliper

I'm confused. I didn't think any models came with non-vented front rotors.

Okay so I finally got around to getting my rotors off the car, the fronts are 10.9 and rears are 10.7. I’m also a little stupid, fronts and rears are definitely both vented.

So with that being said, replacing rotors and calipers with all T2 parts shouldn’t be an issues right?

also I found this for new calipers and haven’t been able to find anyone talking about it.

Not sure if these are newly offered but would definitely like some insight before I spent money on all 4 replacement calipers

Those are non-turbo, there are some of those around. The turbo/GXL ones are hard to find. I saw five or six used sets on ebay the last that I looked. I know very little about rebuilding calipers and was able to completely refurbish all of mine. The rears are a bit tricky and I didn't bother to split the fronts and got lucky. Best wishes getting what you need.

Just as a word of caution, sometimes the pistons freeze up and just won't come part without a lot of trouble. Also, the front halves suffer from galvanic corrosion due to the steel bolts and Aluminum calipers. There are many threads on here about people stripping out the aluminum halves if you have corrosion on the bolts/halves.

I’m in the process of refreshing everything I can with this car, it’s only an NA as of right now so I imagine I would be okay with non turbo brakes aswell.

That being said, would those fit on my rotors? As far as I can tell they are the same size, just don’t want to order something and have to send it back

I'm going to say no. Those are two piston calipers so they are for the front of the non turbo cars that didn't get the four piston calipers of the turbo. That said I'm not even sure those are for an Rx-7. Jim Ellis's parts diagram for an '89 shows a single piston. They don't have a diagram for an '88 but I assume it was the same. Either way they may bolt to the spindle but since the turbo rotors were an inch bigger I don't think they will fit with your rotors.
