What bodykit is this? what's the story with this FC?
this is the SWEETEST fc3s i have ever seen!
does anyone know the story behind the car? have more pictures? know who sells that body kit (or replacement panel set?)?
it looks better than a veilside FD, and that is saying something!
in fact, it looks better than just about every FD i've seen!

if "pure" performance is your goal & ambition, then why don't you slap together a 500kg bare chassis kit car and put a 20B turbo in it.
it'd look like f*cken ****, but then again, you aren't concerned about looks at all, are you? and i just love the way that *you* arbitrarily decided that anything that detracts from the factory look of the car is now Rice.
If you can honestly look at the pix of that awesome FC, and tell me that you don't think, that at on some level at least, that it is a beautiful piece of automotive machinery, then you are either blind, gay, insane, or all three.

I think that kit is from the late 80's/early 90's and it kinda follows the design trends of the time. Personally, I think it rocks except I hate that headlight design...even on a Porsche.

what pisses me off is that what is being deemed a viable target for criticism as being "rice" has shifted from an interpretation that i think everyone would agree with (20 second 0-400m Hondas with huge exhaust tips, Non-turbo Blow Off Valve kits, and more stickers than the sky has stars, etc) to the slapping of this metaphorical defect notice on anything that appears evenly vaguely unique, or (shock horror) non-factory.
you might not like the f*cking thing, OK, big deal, each to their own, but to dismiss it out of hand as being "gay" and "rice" when it looks as awesome as a ferrari, and is obviously heavily modified internally, is plain f*cking ridiculous. that's all.
i will go out on a limb though, and state that if you prefer a stock 2nd gen over the sick, awesome, sleek & predatory modified 2nd gen pictured above, then you should be in a nursing home, and not out menacing the general public, gums a'gnashing
there should be an opposite to Riceboy ~ StyleNazi.

I see your argument, and you have a valid point. People are to quick to pull the "rice card" (remember Johnnie Cochran and the race card?). Just because it looks a little different doesn't automatically make it rice.
I still think it's ugly, and would much prefer a stock FC with a tasteful front lip.

I agree that people are too quick to pull out the word "rice" every time they see a car that's pretty radical looking. Ricey to me is a Supra-spoiler on anything other than a Supra, decals all over one's car advertising for products NOT in the car, or function following WAAAAY behind form.
That RX-7 is not ricey in any sense of the word. Sure it could be gaudy or perhaps even a bit too much, but hell, doesn't a Lamborghini look way 'out there'? That car looks exotic and I'm assuming it has the power to compete with exotics at a fraction of the cost, and some of you are calling it rice...absurd.

Well I personally wouldnt do it to my car. However wheather we like it or not someone did put a hell of a lot of work into it. And from judging from the pics He (or she) did a pretty quality job. And if they had to fabricate thier own gull wing doors...... damn. Its cool that it was done even if it looks tacky. We need to have some one do it just so we can say it was done and it was stupid. I also think we need to appreciate people for thier work, as long as its good quality work. Some kid with a zip saw hacking on body panels..... ok bash away.

I kind of like the kit. It is a little too much with the sides and the super wide fenders. I don't think it is rice.
That RX7 has become an exotic.
Rice is those bitches that make the car look like it is some powerfull beast when it isn't. they also do things that make no sense at all like having the inside of their wheels on the outside of the fenders. God I hate that. people that cut their springs. Those jerks with the 21" wheels and rubberbands with tred streched on them. These kinds of things because they think they are being unique, when all they are doing is copying every bad idea out there.
This kit may not be the best looking thing to everyone but it does have function. How easy do you think it would be to get out of those wide side skits if the door didn't lift like that. Those wide side skirts flow seamlessly into the super fat (wide) ***.
The kit is built similar to a Lambergini, Ferarri, and Lotus. No one would think about calling those cars ricers.

that is my opinion. to me rice is not necessarily associated with hondas. my definition of rice, is something that turns the car or makes it look like something totally diferent than it is.it's sort of like kits are insulting the FC or car. i mean that kit totally changed the looks of the FC when there was nothing wrong with it to begin with. why would you want to change the classic and sporty looks of it? a true kit is a something that should just add to the cars beauty not takes away from it.

just kidding. i also hate when i go to these car shows,drag racing events and i see honda civics with LEXUS IS300 front ends and rear taillights or honda crx's with supra taillights and i have even seen them with corvette taillights! that is just plain stupid in my oppinion,why would you want your car to look like something it isn't? why hell i should just buy a ford probe gt and make it look like an FD and put f&f FD graphics on it! the car on topic to me is ugly only because it reminds me of too many other cars,but i do like the performance!p.s. everyone is entitled to their own opinion!

it's not the opinion that rankles. he, or anyone for that matter, could have stated (as indeed he did) that he felt it sucked. no probs. i couldn't care about that, and actually expected some negative comments.
it is the point blank condemnation come to be associated with the adjective "Rice", grossly misused here against that awesome piece of automotive performance art, that pissed me off.

I don't really like how that kits looks but to each his own.
I'd prefer something more like this.
I love the smooth doors, I just wish the front had the bumper guard shaved down.
One day my car will be smooth like that, and have the spoiler fiberglassed down too.

get rid of the headlight and get me some of the flush mounts like soul assassin's and get rid of that tail light cover, and i thought it would look pretty sweet...

i investigated eliminating the weatherstrip for that awesome smooth look when i resprayed my FC.
to do it properly, a panel beater told me he'd have to weld ting sheet metal into the gap the roughly level it out, then reo-fill it smooth.
we actually tried bogging it up, it looked f*cken awesome! but i wasn't happy with the fact that my car had so mch bog in it, so i chiselled it all out, smoothed it off, and just put the weatherstrip back in, only colour coded to the car this time.
i have the picture of the yellow FC it *is* nice isn't it.
seeing an FC in the flesh with the sides smoothed out is a blast, it does look incredibly sweet.
i'll see if i can find the pictures i took of my car with the sides soothed out (even tho it was still unpainted it looked good)
