what is this?

What are these two things that I circled? The thing on the left has a *** at the top. The previous owner installed it.

Looks like an old alarm. I have a 7 out back and it has the box on the left but its clear and there is a spring that measures movement. Other than that I don't know.

Yep, it's a generic "motion" sensor.
There's a spring in it that bounces up and down, and it triggers a switch when the car is being jacked up or bounced up and down.
We used to install a lot of them with Autopage alarms back in the day...we're talking 10+ years!
That's some old tech - it's been all replaced by solid state transducers nowadays.
It's basically useless - throw it away.

The one on the right is a relay.

Why don't you trace the wires and find out yourself?
It's definitely not part of the stock electronics.
