...well that's one problem fixed...
Yesterday my driver's side auto seatbelt stopped working (stuck in the "on" position)... just a minute ago I was thinking "WTF" and wondered if the door switch was the problem, so I stepped into the car (trying to see if the light would turn on when set to the "on when door is open" setting, since the door was open).
I scraped my ear on the seatbelt lock and it started working again...
yay...
but ow.
And here I was thinking I was gonna have to force Mazda to fix it for me...

Seems that it still gets stuck once in a while.
But you're right, opening fast DOES make it work.
I wonder why... couldn't be the switch, it's just an on-off thing. Maybe I just need to lube it up.

I hit my ear on the corner of a vert door. Sucker split me right open. That hurts like hell. I feel your pain, and I dont like it.
At least I didnt do it on a february day in chicago. You havent felt pain until you hurt your ear when it is already freezing cold.

Turns out the thing that controls it is the latch on the door, not the little push-button switch in the door frame.
I think maybe I contaminated it when I lubricated the shackle a few days ago? The reason opening it fast made it work is because it made the latch return the the full open position.
It may have gotten better...
