okay turned it over again today to distribute the oil in it. Hopefully I will have good weather this week end so I can see if this all worked to give compression back.

Turbonut 12-20-02 02:52 PM

Hey, welcome back. Just make sure you blow all the residue out of there before you try and start it.Let us know!

racermike 12-20-02 03:16 PM

Say rx7bear, when you "sprayed" the apex seals, were you in a position to see them? The reason I ask is that when working one over myself, I position the seal in the middle of the exhaust port opening, then carefully see if I can move the seal in and out. You can tell if it is stuck that way, and determine if you unstick it. Also, I had an engine (junkyard) once that had several seals stuck. I got all but one unstuck, but went ahead and put in anyway just to see what would happen. AFTER the engine was run for awhile, the stuck seal became unstuck! I assume the heat of running, and possibly the forces exurted by spinning finished the job that all the solvents and oils started. It came back to life and was good for another 35,000 miles (until the car was wrecked)

RX7BEAR 12-21-02 10:57 AM

yeah I did get to look at them and they are all the way against the rotor. and they didnt move any in and out so I hope they loosen up soon. That is cool to hear that you got it to come back for you like that maybe it will work for me. But I can tell you that I can spin it over by hand very easily and I have none of the wooshes that everybody is talkin about.
One thing is that I broke one of the oil injector lines when I took it all apart again and dont know what to replace it with mazdatrixs wants 22.00 for one damn!!!!!!

JoeZoom 12-21-02 12:30 PM

I have a complete set of lines that I will sell you. How bout $25 plus shipping?
PM or email if interested.

RX7BEAR 12-22-02 12:37 PM

okay guys I went out and spun it over today to get all that oil out of the rotor housings she still dont sound any different. free spinning like it always did. no wooshes. So I put more mmo back in it to soak again spinning it the opposite way so I dont blow it out as much. Anyway will let you all know wha tcomes about later on

Mephis 12-22-02 12:41 PM

hey all i know wha to do , put his email on every newletter site , job serch site , and anything bad you can sign him up for spam his box to thatll help!

Sorry to say this, but that is a shitty compression testing method. Plus people on here will tell anyone to start dumping ATF into their motors when its not needed at all.

RX7BEAR 12-22-02 01:08 PM

Im just tryin to see if I can get this thing to get some kinda compression back . The guy I got it from said it was good and is going on hear say from the guy he got it from. I just took to long to install it now he wont give me my money back and Im stuck with a motor that has no compression onit at all !!!!!!!! Nothin notta damn thing no wooshes. So Im tryin to see if letting it sit with mmo in it will unstick the stuck stuff . This thing should have something but it dont . Im haveing some good weather here so I dont mind tryin again.
If I dont get anything out of it soon I will pull it and tear it apart to see what is really wrong with it and sell what is good.
Then buy a good motor from someone who will stand behind what they sell and not come up with every damn excuse there is under the sun to not refund money for shit.

racermike 12-22-02 02:04 PM

If you got no movement out of all six seals,,,,,don't look good! I will typically "oil and clean" for a week or so if needed. Untill all seals move and "oil and cleaners" come out clean (ie. no carbon, gunk, dark fluids).
Good luck.

ITs called a quick and dirty. It gives the tester (with an experienced ear to recognize the results that is) a very good idea of what he is dealign with in a very short period of time with no extra tools or assistance reqiured.

Plus people on here will tell anyone to start dumping ATF into their motors when its not needed at all.
Yeah, I know some guys like that:

Look like the good old ATF

Im not sure how you use atf, but if I am not mistaken you spray it through the intake at some point. Breaks up all the carbon n shit left inside of the engine. End result is that pic.

That was from one of your posts...

Since youre quite the expert all of the sudden, I must ask, how many:

-compression tests have you ran?
-cars have you started that would otherwise not run?
-blown engines have you dealt with?
-engines have you torn down?
-engines have you rebuilt?

UNtil proven otherwise, it sounds to me like you're just another one of the "people on here" that say whatever comes to mind, what they once heard someone say, or whatever. IF you want to read this forum and form your own opinions about things like compression testing and atf, that's fine. But to then come back and start writing it on the wall as law for everyone else is not, especially when there are others who have had their hands in a lot more things than you have...

Forget it Kevin, its not worth it.
You know the reputation this board has with the real pro's...as you're one of them.
Some of these people will argue with superior wisdom and dispute it because that is all they know how to do. Instead of sitting back and listening to what experience tells them, they want to dispute it. Typical "board" behavior. Don't sweat it. I don't see this guy being of help at all.

Dude Im not trying to say you were aiming to rip anyone off. Shit happens when you leave a motor sitting for a long time with out touching it. That doesnt mean its your fault. Hell if I were you, I wouldnt be paying for this guys motor either, especially after he came on here and started saying you ripped him off. You dont know what happened to it since it left your hands.

-compression tests have you ran? *shrug* How many times have you gone to the bathroom?
-cars have you started that would otherwise not run? Three or four. Nothing impressive. I dont spend all day looking for motors to fix or to play with. I dont have the money right now to run around and buy cars with 'blown' motors to go sell and then make a profit off.
-blown engines have you dealt with? Just two, again, see above.
-engines have you torn down? Just two.
-engines have you rebuilt? Only one of them was worth rebuilding.

But what does this have to do with a compression test exactly? You may be, and probably are, more experienced with rotaries. But that doesnt mean a real compression test != better than hearing a motor make a noise. Because you have ripped apart a few motors does not mean real #'s are not better than a guess. Hell, maybe you've done 100 rebuilds, i dont know and I dont care to tell you the truth. The 6 whoosh is quick and easy, you're right. If you are too lazy to take 5 minutes to get some real #s, then so be it. Personally I wouldnt ever buy a motor I was going to use w/o seeing real stats. But can you honestly tell me you can tell the difference, by hearing, between a motor that will make 120psi and a motor that makes 95psi?

RX7BEAR 12-23-02 10:05 AM

Still after all this shit Ive tried this motor aint got nothin no compression.

dr0x 12-23-02 10:20 AM

Then its probably fucked :o:

RX7BEAR 12-23-02 10:34 AM

yep I got ripped off big time

dr0x 12-24-02 04:25 AM

Oh well. Thats a good reason why you dont buy used engines. Live and learn.:( :o:
