My differential mount is starting to act up. When I shift, I hear a thump coming from the back of the car. It doesnt do it all the time so I guess its barely starting to break. I heard that welding the differential mount is a better way to go than to just replace the mount. Is there a site that explains this in some detail? Do i just go to a shop and tell them to weld it? how do I go about doing this. Thanks in advance.
I have that same problem, but it's just something in the rear that is loose. With the car on a lift at T&R Racing I saw that there was some play in the rear. So I'm going to rebuild it later on. It works fine for now. If you want to weld it you'll want to weld the front of the differential to the subframe using a piece of steel, etc.
I had the same problem a couple weeks ago. I just took it to T&R and had him weld it up. Had him check the starter (acting up a little) and the brakes too, he charged $100 for everything. Not too bad I'd say.
