Weird Transmission Noise
Hey I guys I got a weird noise coming from my transmission. It sounds kind of high pitched and gets kinda louder when I accelerate. The noise goes completely away though when I depress the clutch. I read in the Haynes manual that it is probably the clutch release bearing. Does this sound like it probably is the clutch release bearing or something else. Please any one who knows what it could be or has had this same problem let me know what I should do.
Thanks
Jon

A sort of high pitched "whrrrrring" sound? Yes, it's the clutch release(ie "throw out") bearing. I've the same problem. You need to pull the tranny and replace it. It would be wise to replace the pilot bearing while you're at it. A shop specializing in clutches will do it for around $300. Good luck.
