been working on my rx7 lately, and found out i need a fuel pump (for now, and not counting the clutch master/slave cyl) but when we turn over the engine, as soon as the key moves to the on position, ticking comes from the engine, in 2 diffrent spots. feeling around i felt it was the the connectors to the injectors, and then, either it was bounching off the engine bay, or something is also ticking under the intake. its a rapid tick, kinda like lifter valve ticks if anyone has ever turned on a miata before and knows the quick ticking that happens from the valves, is sounds kinda like that. but i just said that to describe what it sounds like.

is it trying to prime themselves but because the fuel pump is dead its not working? are they shorted out? i had some other ideas but i forgot them. we made a recording of them with a cell phone, but it doesint email out sound recordings, so i cant show yall, but anyone have any ideas as to whats going on?

 

No. It's just the bac doing its duty cycle. ON, off, on, off, on, off at 120hz give or take. Not injectors.

 

sorry then, i guess this was a stupid question to yall. guess if i had more rx7 knowlage then just the common stuff i would have known, but i guess feeling the ticking from my injector plugs threw me off. cant belive i forgot to ask my rx7 friend about this (found this ticking about 2 weeks ago)
