weird temp problem?
hey guys whats up?
okay so on my stock 89 gxl i have this issue. it runs and drives fine but if i corner hard or eccelerate hard my temp gauge goes crazy, it will shoot all the way up as high as it can go then bounce down to normal and back and forth for about a minute or so, just keeps bouncing around crazy, but while it's up at the highest position way above H if i give it gas it will go down and when i let off it will rise back up. and nothing is gradual it's all very vast instant changes and then sometimes it will just go back to normal for a few miles and then goes bizerk again. lol . it doesent over heat at all coolant isnt boiling either
any ideas?
ive flushed the rad with prestone flush, coolant was nasty, then put all new coolant hoping it waould help but nada.
any help would be appreciated

Check the wire that connects to the temp sending unit on the engine.
Since the coolant can't behave as you've described, the problem must be with the gauge/sending unit/wiring.
Most likely, the wire to the sending unit is frayed somewhere and making intermittent ground- which would cause the gauge to behave like yours is.
