weird starting problem/electrical gremlin
Alright, for starters, 88' GXL, no engine mods, POS JVC deck is the only thing not stock, rear antenna was ripped of before I bought it, new antenna embedded in windsheild (I think).
Started happening last night out of the blue, that when I go to start the car I get this screwed up problem. I turn the key the engine doesn't crank or do anything, but I can hear the antenna motor in the rear winding up my no-existent antenna. As soon as the antenna motor finishes I flick the key forward and the car start like its brand new. Not really a problem, I guess, just really annoying to have to wait for the antenna motor. Also brings up concerns about the cars electrical systems. I am going to look into disconnecting the antenna motor on the forum today, so I guess I'm just putting the problem out there in case anyone else has had it and can offer some insight. Thanks in advance.

thanks sureshot,
10-15 minutes ago I left the office to go get some breakfast and there was no problem at all, it started like a charm. I'm still going to pull the antenna motor but now I'm confused

I'd unplug the power antenna, which is probably just lying around in there. Don't see why it would prevent you from starting the engine, but it's a start. The stock mast probably broke and it was just unbolted and put on the side instead of removed.
