weird starting problem
i bought a 1988 rx7
the car had 230,000 + miles on it (nvr rebuilt)
and i drove it for like a week
i started to notice that it would crank slow (as if it was struggling to start)
or it would crank fast, faster than normal
then one morning it sounded like it was cranking fast and it wouldnt start
i got multiple oppinions as to y this was happening
one was that it might be flooded (i tried takeing out the injector fuse then starting it again) no luck
then another person told me that it may not have compression because we no longer hear the compression when we try to start it
logicly thinking a car cant lose compression over night because the night b4 i started it
i bought nu plugs and still nothing
any ideas?
or is it time to rebuild?

A flooded motor will act like a no-compression motor and allow the starter to go faster. Try to deflood again and use some of the heavy deflood tactics as you may have an injector stuck open and leaking fuel into the engine.
At 230k miles you should start to think of a rebuild before your seals fall out though.

i had same problem once try checking your oil. turns out mine was pretty low and im guessing the oil wasnt reaching the pickup and it wasing either sealing the motor or maybe there is some sort of safety. I may be completely wrong about all that but i know that once i added oil and kept cranking is slowly started to sound normal like it was gaining compression and finally started. hope this helps.
