weird rattling sound from the engine at high revs

ok ill be driving and when i get to about 5 to 6 k is sounds like pieces of plastic or metal is rattling around inside the engine. its scary but at warm the engine idle is fine and nothing is really wrong besides that noise can anyone tell me what that might be???

Check your oil level (happened to me before I was used to the oil consumption of rotaries).

Change your belts, it sounds to me like they're slipping badly.

I have an 87 TII that I have been working on for the last few months that had a metalic clanking noise that was very random but usually when I let off the throttle at 3 to 4K rpm. I did not have the car on the road so I don't know if I would have heard it while driving. I would only clank a few times during deceleration but not every time.
When I removed the exhaust system I found that the honeycomb in the first converter was broken and rattling around.
Just another possibility.

how often should you change them???

weird problem with my spark plugs are
2 of them have oil on them when i take them out
1 has high speed glazing
and the last one gets too hot.

my plugs go about 2 full plug changes between every oil change (3K)

i didnt know if this was normal i just wanted to know.

Ummm wouldn't that sound be detonation? On piston engines it sounds like something is loose in the engine bay. And yes I know we're not talking about piston engines.

sounds like detonation to me. give it a tune up.

and castrol changing plugs 2x every 3k is not right! should last 10-15k easy.

I was gonna say detonation...

Check for black puffs of smoke coming out the tailpipe, you might have a couple of plug leads around the wrong way also
