weird problems after installing fuel pump

ok i have a 87 N/A automatic. I just recently installed a new fuel filter and walbro fuel pump. I got a good deal on the pump but it was the bigger one. not the OEM. I guess turbo one. But either way, at first I had no reading on the amp guage in the insturment cluster guage. I guess batter guage. then the fuel gauge wasnt working. The pump was screaming though. Louod hissing noice. So then I open it back up, thinking maby the black bobber got stuck and put it all back together. I got a reading for the battery not and it read half tank of gas.
Well the thing is, I know I put over 10 gallons of gas in there. Also ever sence I changed iit, when going ot full throttle rpms raise but car will not move with rpms. kinda wierd.

now I did fill up the tank with water cause I had to drill out the old screws and got out as much water as I could. I added 4 bottles of water remover and a bottle of redline fuel treatment .

Could there still be enought water in there to cause me that much trouble? I can drive the car slowly or normally and it seems to shift fine only if im trying to hit the peddle really quickly or all the way down will it doe this. Any advice?

Slipping clutch.

The water could have caused some havoc with the fuel level sensor. If the problem does not clear up after two tanks....buy another sender for the tank.

Sorry, I dumbed out. I forgot this was a automatic transmission. I know NOTHING about automatic transmissions. You might start another thread asking about slipping auto transmissions if you don't get a straight answer on this thread.

transmission was my first guess too, but then I thought about it and said ti myself, how can the tranny go bad by sitting a few days and by just getting a fuel pump installed.

Anyone have any other input?

check your fluid level and it could be that your clutch packs are worn out....

Why are you putting a 500hp fuel pump into an NA. That's going to make it run even richer than that the already risk stock mixtures, with a drop in power as a result. It's not a good deal if it makes the car run worse...
