Weird Problem...Runs then doesn't

I have a 88 TII and i'm having a problem keeping the car running. Its getting kinda hard to start up. Today it was kinda cold in the morning so that might have been a factor. Anyway after finally getting it to start it starting idling at about 1000 (broken cold start sensor) so i left it running and it just died after like 30 seconds. Tried again and same results. I've also experience the car wanting to die right when i take out for about the 1st minute of driving. I have the foot on the gas but i just see the revs drop. I just let off the gas and rev the crap outta it and it seems to stay alive. Its got 107,xxx miles on it so i guess its in store for a rebuild and i know it needs a tune up but i'm puzzled. I thought maybe the plugs but it was driveable the other day. I know the description is kind of vague but I know a lot of people on the board are very knowledgeable and have a lot of experience so any help is appreciated. Thanks.

You need to start with a tune up for sure. Never try to trouble shoot a problem without knowing the obvious things are working corectly.
