Exclamation weird problem on my 86 N/A

My '86 has a idle problem, when the car is first turn on on the mornings it sit around 500 to 1500 rpm and it just moves between those numbers and when is on normal temp its sits sometimes a 2000 or 1000 or 1500 rpm and i moved the screw head thats on top of the dinamic chamber to control the idle and tried to keep it around 1500 so it doesn't vibrate as much. now the car is at 2500 and even 3000 and tried to move the screw again but it doesn't even do any effect now. also i did the flame test on the back of the exhaust with a torch and saw small flames so it tells me that is not burning the fuel completely, the car has 158k miles on it and have been getting much worst gas mileage than my 2.3 prelude. What could be the problem? please help, any info will be appreciated.

There are no less than 3 different ways to measure the TPS setting. Adjustment is done by the TPS screw on front of the throttle body. You need to do some homework before you get seriously flamed. Run some searches on this forum for TPS and TPS adjustment and you will find that this topic has been discussed many times before. Read up in the Factory Service Manual the section of Fuel and Emissions and you will find all the answers you're looking for.

Learn all you can about the TPS and idle adjustment. As you go along you will see that most idle troubles can be traced back to poorly adjusted TPS.
